They may only have drawn against Oldham, but it was a point closer to a return to the Championship for Sheffield United on Saturday.

On an awful Boundary Park pitch, Oldham took the lead when Paul Green’s deft pass released Josh Law down the right and his cross was converted by Latics striker Tope Obadeyi.

United responded within five minutes of the restart.

A cross that hung in the Lancashire air was met by James Hanson and his knock-down found O’Shea, who rifled in an unstoppable shot from 20 yards.

The result leaves United four points clear of second-placed Bolton and 10 points clear of third place with seven games remaining.
