A Huddersfield Town-linked forward is reportedly close to joining Burton Albion
Dundalk forward Gbemi Arubi has reportedly decided to join Burton Albion - despite talk of interest from Huddersfield Town.

A battle for the 22-year-old’s signature was said to be playing out, with Arubi thought to be keen on a move to England.

Huddersfield Town-linked forward tipped to join Burton Albion
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Huddersfield’s League One rivals Burton have won the race for the frontman.
Arubi, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level, is believed to have chosen Burton as his next destination.
Posting on X, O’Rourke said: “Understand Burton Albion have won the race for highly-rated Dundalk forward Gbemi Arubi. The striker has interest from clubs in England, Scotland and Belgium, but has decided to join Burton.”
Gbemi Arubi’s career path
Arubi moved into the senior game with Shelbourne, later having a stint at Waterford before joining Dundalk in 2024.
He was a key figure in Dundalk as they secured promotion from the League of Ireland First Division last year and the goals have continued to flow in 2026.
Arubi has made a total of 57 appearances in Dundalk colours, scoring 20 goals.

Earlier this year, Dundalk boss Ciarán Kilduff said: “I’m not stupid, he’s attracted a lot of interest. I’d be lying to say there’s anything close. There’s interest, but as far as I’m aware, there’s no deals, no offers, there’s nothing substantial, but what a player.”
Arubi could potentially be a replacement for Jake Beesley, who recently left Burton for West Yorkshire outfit Bradford City.
Huddersfield, meanwhile, have bolstered their frontline with the signing of Ashley Fletcher from Blackpool.
