'The challenges are vast' - Lee Grant breaks silence on spell as Huddersfield Town manager
Lee Grant has broken his silence on his short-lived reign as Huddersfield Town manager.
The 43-year-old was handed the reins at the Accu Stadium in May last year, heralded as the man capable of breathing life into the Terriers.
It was Grant’s first appointment to a managerial role, with the former goalkeeper having worked behind the scenes at Ipswich Town following his retirement from playing.
His tenure lasted less than a year, as he was relieved of his duties last month with the club’s promotion push faultering.

Lee Grant on his Huddersfield Town reign
Grant was on punditry duty for Sky Sports at the weekend and reflected on his brief stint as manager of the West Yorkshire club.
He said: “I loved every minute of being a manager, that's for sure. Of course, the challenges are vast.
"I would have loved to have been given the opportunity to continue the job that myself and the players set out on at the beginning of the season.
“Of course, that's not the case, but I've got full confidence that, despite the fact the form isn't quite where they want it to be at this moment in time, this group of players can go and achieve the things that they want to do this season."
Huddersfield Town’s roll of the dice
Grant was succeeded by Liam Manning, who was available for hire after being dismissed by Championship outfit Norwich City.
It has not been plain-sailing for Manning either and it remains to be seen whether Huddersfield’s roll of the dice will pay off.

When Grant was axed last month, Terriers owner Kevin Nagle said: “Entering this season with renewed optimism and hope having proactively reshaped our first team throughout the summer, we were clear about not only our ambitions but how we wanted to achieve them, and the type of team on the pitch we wanted to enjoy alongside our supporters.
“Sadly, on current form, none of those objectives are being met, and with just under half of the season remaining we feel no other option but to make a change to put the side back on track.
“I would like to thank Lee for his efforts and wish him nothing but the best for his future career. Our previously stated aims and desires for the season remain the same, and we will be making a change with those ambitions still firmly in mind.”
