Hull City and Coventry City 'keen' on ex-Manchester United and Wolves playmaker Angel Gomes
Hull City and Coventry City 'keen' on four-cap England playmaker Angel Gomes
Hull City are reportedly keen on signing England-capped playmaker Angel Gomes from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille.
The 25-year-old is a product of Manchester United’s academy but sought pastures new with Lille after just 10 senior outings for the Red Devils.
His exploits with Lille pushed him into the England fold and the attacking midfielder picked up four England caps in 2024.
Gomes made the switch to Marseille last year, although ended last season back in England on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He made 12 appearances for the Midlands club in their unsuccessful battle against relegation from the Premier League, starting on seven occasions.

According to TEAMtalk, a return to England could be on the cards for Gomes. Hull and Coventry City, freshly promoted from the Championship, are said to be among his admirers.
Marseille are thought to be open to offers for Gomes and seeking a fee in the region of €15-20m (£13-£17.2m).
Gomes himself, meamwhile, is supposedly keen on making a return to England’s top tier after his loan stint at Wolves.
Angel Gomes’ future
In an interview with The Athletic last month, Gomes admitted he is open to playing “anywhere” amid uncertainty over his Marseille future.
He said: “I haven’t spoken to Marseille and everything that goes on behind the scenes has been left with my agent and the clubs really.
“I haven’t spoken personally to anyone at either club really. In these circumstances, the best thing I can do is leave it to my advisors.

“Only time will tell, but my advisors and my agents will look after me. Since leaving [Manchester] United all those years ago, I always had a love for English football. I grew up in England and played for England, so it was always the pinnacle for me when I was younger.
“But coming back to England has never been the be-all and end-all for me in my career or in my life. If there are opportunities to play for a team in England then it’s not something that I would turn down, but I’m open to playing anywhere.”
