'I wanted to be appreciated' - Liam Millar makes telling comments about move from Hull City to Birmingham City
Liam Millar has opened up on his loan move from Hull City to Birmingham City
Hull City winger Liam Millar has cited a desire to feel “appreciated” as a factor behind his loan move to Birmingham City.
The 26-year-old helped the Tigers seal promotion from the Championship last season before linking up with Canada for the World Cup.
He returned to East Yorkshire to make his Premier League debut, but was sent back to the Championship on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Liam Millar on Hull City to Birmingham City move
In an appearance on the ‘Blue Rising’ podcast, Millar has candidly discussed his loan switch from the Tigers to the Blues.
He said: “The gaffer (Chris Davies) was very open with me that he’s wanted me for a long time. I think, this period, I really just wanted to be wanted and I wanted to be appreciated.
“I felt like, at times, that wasn’t the case for me. I think that was a big thing. The conversations I had with the gaffer, with the sporting directors here, and also the stadium and the environment [were factors].
“It was very quick to be honest - I didn’t really know what was going on. It was very quick. Listen, I wish I could speak more to you boys about what’s obviously gone on at Hull and that, but I’m not going to speak about that at this time.”

Liam Millar’s future
The temporary nature of Millar’s move has left the door ajar at Hull, although his future with the Tigers is likely to be dependent on their fate in the Premier League this season.
Sergej Jakirovic’s squad has been strengthened by an intense signing spree and Millar could find minutes hard to come by if a return to the MKM Stadium materialises.
However, relegation to the Championship and the exodus that would most likely follow would potentially open up a window of opportunity.
Millar has made three league appearances for Birmingham and already has three assists under his belt.
