Hull City 'showing interest' in £20.8m Burnley midfielder Florentino Luis as Premier League return mooted
Hull City have been credited with interest in luring a midfielder from Burnley
Hull City are reportedly showing interest in prising Florentino Luis from Burnley.
A defensive-minded midfielder, Luis joined Burnley from Benfica on a season-long loan deal last summer. His move was only recent turned permanent for a reported £20.8m fee as a result of a buy obligation clause.
The 2025/26 campaign ended in relegation from the Premier League for Burnley, although Luis was among their stronger performers.
The 26-year-old racked up 31 appearances in England’s top flight and is already being linked with a return to the so-called promised land.

Hull City linked with Burnley midfielder
According to Hull Live, newly-promoted Hull are interested in taking Luis back to the top tier.
The prospect of a Premier League return could prove tempting for Luis, who has previously plied his trade in Primeira Liga, La Liga and Ligue 1. He has not played below top-tier level since he was a Benfica B prospect.
Hull are said to be keen to tempt him to the MKM Stadium, with the East Yorkshire club’s transfer plans stepping up a gear.
Hull City’s transfer business
They have already signed goalkeeper Jack Butland, defender Matt Targett and midfielder Oscar Zambrano, with more additions expected before the beginning of the new season.
Japan international Hidemasa Morita is reportedly nearing a move to Hull following his Sporting Lisbon exit and the 31-year-old would arguably pair well with Luis.

The Tigers have also been linked with the likes of Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey and Rennes forward Breel Embolo.
In a recent interview, Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic said: “It's a big thing to be in the Premier League. I know how difficult it is to get the chance [to manage] in the Premier League because it always goes to, I can say, the names.
“So it's okay, we got promoted [instead]. Now we have to build a team who will be competitive, not just participating there. I know me, I know my staff, the players know our habits – we like to win the games.”
