Hull City and Ipswich Town 'consider' Breel Embolo after impressive World Cup campaign with Switzerland
Hull City and Ipswich Town have been credited with interest in a forward who impressed at the World Cup
Hull City are reportedly considering a move for Rennes forward Breel Embolo.
The 29-year-old only made the move to Rennes last summer, penning a four-year deal at Roazhon Park after three years at Monaco.
He scored 10 goals across 34 appearances in his maiden Rennes campaign and more recently caught the eye at the World Cup. Embolo impressed during Switzerland’s run to the quarter-final, netting twice and weighing in with two assists.
The frontman plied his trade in Germany before moving to France, enjoying spells at Schalke 04 and Borussia Mönchengladbach. He has also played in his native Switzerland with Basel, but has never featured in England.

Hull City linked with Rennes and Switzerland star
According to reporter Ben Jacobs, Embolo could potentially receive Premier League offers from two of the division’s newly-promoted clubs.
Hull and Ipswich Town are both said to be considering Embolo as a potential target, although are not the only clubs to have been linked.
Embolo is thought to have caught the eye of Atlanta United, who compete in Major League Soccer. The Switzerland star could reportedly move for a fee of €15m (£12.8m).
Posting on X, Jacobs said: “Breel Embolo is attracting interest from Atlanta United. Embolo also considered by Hull City and Ipswich along with multiple Serie A clubs. Sale possible around €15m.”
Hull City’s transfer business
Hull have made three signings since their Championship play-off final triumph, recruiting goalkeeper Jack Butland, defender Matt Targett and midfielder Oscar Zambrano.
In a remarkable display of transparency, Tigers owner Acun Ilicali took to X yesterday (July 23) to drop hints regarding other targets.

He listed 11 nationalities, each representing a player, with a percenatage next to each one. The percentage seemingly alluded to how far along the club are with negotiations over deals.
Next to the Japan flag was 99 per cent, leading many fans to believe a deal to sign experienced midfield anchor Hidemasa Morita is close to completion.
