Hull City 'monitoring' ex-Newcastle United star Callum Wilson after major hint over West Ham future dropped

Hull City reported as admirers of Callum Wilson with West Ham United exit anticipated

Hull City are reportedly monitoring Callum Wilson with the veteran marksman seemingly set to depart West Ham United.

The 34-year-old, formerly of AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United, contributed seven goals to West Ham’s ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation from the Premier League.

He is out of contract at the end of the month and West Ham have not made an announcement regarding an extension for the England-capped forward.

Hull City linked with Callum Wilson

According to Hull Live, Wilson’s situation is being monitored by newly-promoted Premier League outfit Hull.

The Tigers are gearing up for life in the top flight after defeating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-off final.

They are believed to be looking to recruit both youth and experience this summer, and Wilson would certainly tick the latter box. He has a total of 271 Premier League appearances on his CV - as well as 95 goals.

West Ham have not yet published their retained list, yet Wilson seemingly confirmed he is seeking pastures new with a farewell statement issued via Instagram.

Callum Wilson’s major hint over West Ham future

He said: “It hurts. We have failed as a team and definitely fallen short of everyone’s expectations. It was well documented that I had a history with West Ham, yet from the moment I arrived, I felt nothing but welcomed by all the fans here.I felt really good and positive coming into this season, and I believe I could have contributed more given the opportunity.

“As you could see, my time on the pitch was very limited at times, but that was out of my control. I’ve always trained hard, kept my integrity, and given my all whenever I’ve been allowed to wear the iconic claret and blue shirt.I’m sad and extremely disappointed that it has ended this way.

“This club deserves so much better because there are so many unbelievable people behind the scenes that you fans don’t always get to see.For now, all I can say is thank you.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us. Your passion is amazing, and I truly hope you return to the Premier League, where you belong, as soon as possible. Take care, Callum.”
