He was also linked with Brighton, who were said to have taken notice of his exploits in the second tier of English football.
Femi Azeez completes Premier League move
Brighton managed to push a deal over the line late in the window and have unveiled Azeez as a new addition post-deadline. He has penned a four-year deal and is said to have joined for a £12.5m fee that could rise to £15m with add-ons.
Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave said: “We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs.
“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we now looking forward to working with him.”
Millwall issue statement
Millwall did not want to lose their most coveted asset but reluctantly accepted Brighton’s offer after Azees expressed a “strong desire” to seek pastures new.
A spokesperson for the Lions said: “Millwall Football Club can confirm that Femi Azeez has joined Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.
“Azeez, who signed for the Lions from Reading in the summer of 2024 for a fee just north of seven-figures, leaves SE16 having made 77 appearances and scoring 14 goals.
“Femi expressed a strong desire to depart the club this window in pursuit of Premier League football, which The Lions have reluctantly agreed to accept. The club thanks Femi for his service and wishes him well for the future.”
