Hull City promotion hero and ex-Sheffield United stalwart John Lundstram snapped up by Leicester City
A Hull City and Sheffield United promotion-winner has made a permanent return to the EFL
Hull City and Sheffield United promotion-winner John Lundstram has sealed a permanent return to English football with Leicester City.
The 32-year-old was part of the Hull side that reached the Premier League via the Championship play-offs last term having joined the Tigers on loan from Trabzonspor.
It was yet another promotion added to the CV of the midfielder, who escaped League One with Doncaster Rovers in 2013, League Two with Oxford United in 2015 and the Championship with Sheffield United in 2019.
He was particularly influential for the latter, amassing 120 appearances between 2017 and 2021.

John Lundstram seals EFL return
After seeing his Trabzonspor contract brought to an early end, the experienced midfielder has linked up with League One outfit Leicester.
The former England youth international has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
He said: “I’m delighted to be here. I’ve played against Leicester City before and always admired them from afar.
“I’m ready for this next challenge in my career and can’t wait to meet the lads, meet the fans, and get started. We all know what the goal is this season and I’m looking forward to trying to help the team achieve it.”

Leicester have made an underhwhelming start to life in League One following their relegation from the Championship and the pressure is firmly on.
In Lundstram, the Foxes have recruited a seasoned operator capable of getting to grips with both the gritty and technical sides of the game.
Leicester will be back in action at the weekend, hosting another newly-relegated side in Oxford United. Lundstram could make his debut, although may not be thrown straight into the starting XI having not yet made an appearance in competitive football this season.
