Hull City transfer news: Tigers midfielder leaves

HULL CITY midfielder Dan Batty has joined League One rivals Fleetwood Town on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

The Pontefract-born player has struggled for regular game time in the league this season and had been linked with a move to Doncaster Rovers a few weeks ago, but Tigers head coach Grant McCann confirmed that there was no bid from his former club.

Speculation over Batty's future has now ended with the 23-year-old - who was out of contract in the summer - linking up with new Fleetwood manager Simon Grayson at the Highbury Stadium.

His deal was terminated by mutual consent to allow him to join Fleetwood, where he is contracted until the end of the season.

Academy product Batty has largely been used in cup competitions this season and has found league opportunities at a premium, making just two starts and six appearances in total - falling behind the likes of Alfie Jones and Regan Slater in the pecking order alongside regulars Richie Smallwood and George Honeyman.

Batty is the second deadline-day departure from Hull following on from Martin Samuelsen's loan switch to Danish outfit Aalborg.

Samuelsen’s deal could be turned into a permanent one if he hits certain performance targets.

On the incoming front, former left-back Max Clark has returned to the club on a free transfer from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Commenting on the return of Clark, 25, who left in the summer of 2018 to join Vitesse for a deal understood to be in the region of £400,000, McCann said: "Max's arrival gives us really good competition at left-back with him and Callum (Elder). It was an area we needed to look at with the unfortunate injury to Brandon (Fleming).

"He's a really good player and a great character. He fits exactly what we're after in-terms of characters we want at this football club.

"His stats speak for themselves in terms of what he's done at Vitesse.

"He can get forward well, cross balls and create chances, but can also defend really well too.

“He's a Hull boy and a Hull City fan so we're delighted to have him here."
