Leeds United at 'forefront' of clubs keen on Barcelona's Roony Bardghji as Aston Villa claim emerges

A fresh claim regarding reported Leeds United interest in Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji

Leeds United are at the forefront of clubs eyeing Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji, according to a report.

The 20-year-old completed a move to Spain last year after showing plenty of promise in Denmark with FC Copenhagen.

A senior Sweden international, the fleet-footed winger has since made 28 appearances for the Spanish giants across all competitions.

There is still plenty of time for Bardghji to develop into a first-team regular at Camp Nou, but it appears a Premier League switch could be on the cards.

Leeds United ‘interest’ in Roony Bardghji latest

According to SportsBoom, Leeds stand at the forefront of interested clubs having monitored Bardghji for a long time. Villa, meanwhile, are said to have the wideman on their transfer shortlist as they look to build on their Europa League triumph.

It has been suggested that Barcelona are open to a sale but that Bardghji would rather head out on loan and have a chance to prove himself back at Barcelona next year.

Possibility of Leeds United swoop

Leeds ended the 2025/26 season operating with a 3-4-2-1 formation that does not rely upon out-and-out wingers.

However, amid uncertainty over the futures of Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani, there may be a reluctance to enter the 2026/27 campaign with such little depth on the flanks.

Bardghji is undoubtedly an exciting talent and one that could be developed into a valuable asset over the coming years. A loan move would deny Leeds the chance to benefit from an increase in his value, but would make him a very low-risk signing.

The Whites made just one temporary additon to their ranks last term, borrowing Argentine playmaker Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton.
