Leeds United stance on Conrad Harder clarified after link to RB Leipzig and Denmark forward

Leeds United’s position on a Denmark international has been outlined after a transfer link

Leeds United are not currently in pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Conrad Harder, The Yorkshire Post understands.

The 21-year-old has already plied his trade in three different countries, having impressed in Denmark and Portugal with FC Nordsjælland and Sporting Lisbon before moving to Germany.

He penned a five-year deal at RB Leipzig last September and has since made 33 appearances for the Bundesliga club, scoring four goals.

Leeds United’s Conrad Harder stance clarified

Harder has been linked with Leeds but The Yorkshire Post understands he is not a player currently being chased by the Whites.

Leeds did check on the Denmark international’s availability, but interest does not look to have developed beyond that.

Harder has also been reported as a target for Italian outfit Lazio, who are said to have tabled a loan-to-buy offer.

He may not be an active target for Leeds but did recently make the trip to LS11, featuring in RB Leipzig’s friendly loss at Elland Road earlier this month.

Leeds United’s forward options

Leeds made two additions to their forward department last summer, striking deals for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

Both proved to be shrewd additions, helping the Whites stay afloat in the Premier League. They pushed Joel Piroe down the pecking order, prompting the Suriname international’s recent loan move to West Ham United.

With Piroe gone and Mateo Joseph out injured, Leeds are not blessed with depth at the top end of the pitch. Noah Okafor can be deployed there, as can Wilfried Gnonto, but Whites boss Daniel Farke prefers to use the pair out wide.

It would arguably be sensible if Leeds recruited another ‘nine’ to ensure they are covered in the event of injuries to Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha.

Both managed to avoid serious fitness issues last term, but do have history when it comes to injury problems.

Leeds have until 11pm on September 1 to wrap up their summer window business, with only free agents available to them beyond that point.
