'We've got high standards for ourselves' - Leeds United's James Trafford outlines squad mentality
James Trafford has lifted the lid on Leeds United’s mentality following their draw with Crystal Palace
Leeds United believe they can win every game they head into, according to goalkeeper James Trafford.
The Whites have started strongly this season, ascending to fifth place in the Premier League after two wins and three draws across their opening five games.
A goalless draw with Crystal Palace yesterday (September 20) proved disappointing for players and fans alike, evidencing the progress made and the extent to which standards have been raised.

James Trafford on Leeds United mentality
Trafford told Leeds’ media team: “Obviously, at home, we want to win every game. We believe that we can win every game, and today wasn't our day.
“We've got high standards for ourselves, and after every game we've tried to improve, and that's what we've done. It's a little bit disappointing that we didn't win, but we didn't get beat, so we go on to the next.
“I thought, first half, we created some good chances and then second half, it was a bit even. They were good. We were a little bit sloppy and the game probably could have gone either way second half. So yeah, it's a good point. We're still unbeaten and it's a clean sheet. There's a lot of positives.”
Alert to free-kick threat
Trafford was not given too many headaches by the Eagles but drew praise for an impressive save that kept out a Yeremy Pino free-kick.
The 23-year-old was aware Pino had found the net with a set-piece against Manchester City earlier in the season and was therefore on notice.

He said: “In my head, I knew about his free-kick that he had against City, which was a little bit further out and he was good.
“But because it was so close, I knew it'd be hard for him to get it over. So I just had to wait and then see where he put it, and he put it there and I saved it.”
