Torino 'closing in' on Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri as Fabrizio Romano issues update
Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on the future of a Leeds United goalkeeper
Torino are reportedly closing in on the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Leeds United.
The 28-year-old only arrived at Elland Road last summer, sealing a switch from Lyon for a reported £15.6m. He was recruited to be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, but lost his spot between the sticks to Karl Darlow in January.
Perri continued to be used in the FA Cup and got the nod for the semi-final defeat to Chelsea, taking his Leeds appearance tally to 20.
However, speculation regarding his future has been rife amid talk of Leeds being in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Torino ‘closing in’ on Lucas Perri
Serie A outfit Torino have repeatedly been credited with interest and now look to be closing in on the capture of the Brazilian.
Leeds, meanwhile, are targeting Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford.
Posting on X, reporter Fabrizio Romano said: “Torino are closing in on Lucas Perri deal with Leeds United as new goalkeeper. Final details being sorted then LUFC will proceed for James Trafford as new GK with player keen on the move.”
If Perri does seek pastures new, Leeds will be under pressure to accelerate their own goalkeeper recruitment plans.
Perri’s exit would leave Alex Cairns, who has not played a single minute since his return to Elland Road in 2024, as the only senior option at Daniel Farke’s disposal.
Lucas Perri’s Leeds United struggles
When Perri was dropped in January, Farke said: “It’s always a bit of a tricky situation. I have so much respect for Lucas and it's been difficult season for him because he came in relatively late in pre-season, was injured, played in a few games, and was injured again.
“But we are deep in the Premier League season and at this level, especially as a promoted side, you need also a goalkeeper with top performances, otherwise you can't stay in the league.

“We simply got the feeling that in the last weeks perhaps he has not delivered, performance-wise at this level, what we were expecting.
“We wanted to take him out of the spotlight and then give him the chance to achieve his best possible level because, sadly, he wasn't able to show this in the last weeks.”
