'I get that feeling' - Ex-Leeds United boss Simon Grayson delivers Tarik Muharemović verdict
A former Leeds United boss has delivered a verdict on Whites star Tarik Muharemović
Former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson gets the impression Tarik Muharemović feels at home in LS11.
Leeds forked out a hefty £34m to prise the defender from Sassuolo in the summer and he has been widely lauded for his early-season displays.
The 23-year-old has slotted into the backline seamlessly and helped Daniel Farke’s side climb to seventh in the Premier League table.
Simon Grayson on Tarik Muharemović
Grayson, who led Leeds between 2008 and 2012, told BBC Sport: “I'm not daft enough to think he doesn't have aspirations to one day play for some of the biggest clubs in the world.
“But right now? Sometimes a player is at home with a certain club and I get that feeling with Muharemovic. I get the impression he loves Leeds, he loves the city and he loves the supporters.”
Tarik Muharemović’s key attributes
Not only is Muharemović an imposing physical presence capable of being dominant in duels, the Bosnia & Herzegovina is incredibly comfortable in possession.
He has taken the place of Pascal Struijk, who many fans feared would be sorely missed when he linked up with Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer.
Grayson said: “He has a cultured left foot and hits short passes, long-range passes. Playing in a back three really suits him. He also gets what it means to be a Leeds player and what the supporters want.
“Time will tell how he develops. He comes across in his interviews as someone who is living the dream. He is loving life here and being a Leeds player.”
Muharemović is yet to miss a game for Leeds this season and is likely to be in the starting XI for their trip to AFC Bournemouth this weekend.
