Leeds United and Leicester City ‘interested’ in Hungary international as ex-Chelsea star identified as 'potential target'

It has been a busy start to the January transfer window for Leeds United with one incoming and one outgoing at Elland Road.

On Tuesday, Leeds signed Austrian defender Max Wober from RB Salzburg for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old, who can operate at both centre-back and left-back, was Leeds’ first signing in the January transfer window after agreeing a four-and-a-half-year deal.

Meanwhile, following the club’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Wednesday it was announced Mateusz Klich was leaving the club, pending an offer from Major League Soccer. Klich bade Leeds an emotional farewell to Elland after stepping off the bench in the draw with West Ham.

Leeds ‘interested’ in Kerkez

Leeds United are interested in AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez, according to talkSPORT. The Hungarian has earned four international caps and is also receiving interest from Leicester City and Bournemouth.

Alkmaar reportedly want a fee in the region of £15m for the player. It seems unlikely that Leeds would make such a move given the recent signing of Wober, who has played the majority of his games for Salzburg this season at left-back. With their business in that position seemingly complete, the Whites are likely to use remaining transfer funds to strengthen another area of the squad.

Leeds ‘consider’ Aina move

Leeds United could make a move for Torino full-back Ola Aina if Luke Ayling is to leave the club in the summer, according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke. The defender’s deal runs out later this year and he has started just three games this term.

In the event of him leaving Elland Road, O’Rourke has revealed that Leeds could consider a move for ex-Chelsea man Aina. He said: “Ola Aina has been mentioned before as a potential transfer target for Leeds following his time in Italy with Torino as well.

"So yeah, a good young player, again, a versatile defender, and if Leeds do decide not to offer Luke Ayling a new contract, I’m sure Ola Aina is somebody that they will consider.”
