Much like with the reverse fixture at Elland Road, United deserved at least a point, bunft went away with nothing as Wolves swapped places with them in the table.

The decisive moment came on 64 minutes when Adama Traore's thunderous shot rattled the woodwork and bounced down off the bar and hit the back of the luckless Illan Meslier before crossing the line.

It was a very unfortunate development on a night when Liam Cooper was thwarted three times by Rui Patricio following free-kicks from Raphinha, Mateusz Klich, Pascal Struijk, substitute Helder Costa and Patrick Bamford also went close.

On a night when England boss Gareth Southgate was in attendance, Bamford netted 12 minutes from time, but the ruled was ruled out for offside, with a VAR check confirming the decision.

Bielsa said: "We were the dominant side. Look at the chances and we had double the chances that they did. We defended well and attacked well and this is the analysis I have of the game.

"The result did not produce any luck. But luck is not a factor in the result.

"For the majority of the game, there were very fee periods where we weren’t the dominant side. You look at the chances and we had double the chances they did and we defended and attacked well and this is the dynamic I have of the game.

"All evaluations from the game are in favour of us. The possession, the dominance and the chances. In this sense it was the possession that created danger, a dominance that was productive. We had double the chances they did to score but we didn't manage to do so.

"We had 10 chances and we weren't able to score a goal, they had five and scored one. That explains the game.

"I can't be upset (with the goal) because it wasn't Ilan's fault.

"If we defended well and attacked well, I don't think we can conclude that we lost because Kalvin Phillips wasn't there (either)."

Offering his take, Wolves chief Nuno Espirito Santo commented: "It was a very tight game.

"It was a tough game. I didn't think Leeds didn't deserve (something from) the game.

"I was very pleased with the attitude of the players. It's very difficult to play Leeds. I am pleased.

"The keepers were very active today. So I'm looking at a game when the goalkeeper had so many actions. It's a very active and good game.

"Rui (Patricio) did his job and he kept his clean sheet. That's always good for us as a team.

"I am really pleased with the attitude of our players. We've been working hard. The players are very committed. We must keep these high standards."
