Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa praises Whites' mentality after convincing derby win
A stunning early volley from Luke Ayling sent Leeds on their way and they added a second early in the second half from Patrick Bamford in a classy display which fired out a warning to their promotion rivals.
Victory was sweetened by the sight of Leeds moving to the top of the Championship after previous leaders West Brom dropped points at Swansea - on a day when the Whites registered their fifth successive victory and clean sheet, with Bielsa's side having not conceded a goal in almost eight-and-a-half hours.

Hide AdBielsa said: "We created some good chances and I think we've shown we have a good mentality.
We've worked hard to get back to the top of the division and it's pleasing to have such a good run of results at this stage of the season and that can only help our confidence.
"We know how quickly things can change in this division - from one game to the next - and for me, we've still got the most important and the most difficult stage of the season ahead of us.
We have nine games left to get the points we need."
On Ayling's brilliant strike which followed his goal in the previous home match with Reading, the Argentine added: "Luke's playing like an attacker at the moment and he doesn't seem to have any difficulty in finding the net."
