Middlesbrough seal loan deal

However, Championship promotion hopefuls Boro have managed to tie the former England youth international down to a season-long loan deal.

A club spokesperson said: “Exciting forward Amario Cozier-Duberry has joined Boro on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 21-year-old arrives fresh from a breakout campaign with Bolton Wanderers, who he helped to promotion to the Championship last term.

“Cozier-Duberry's deadline day move makes him Boro's 11th signing of a busy summer window, after the Teessiders beat off competition from a host of other clubs for his signature.

“An Arsenal academy graduate, he joined Brighton in the summer of 2024 and has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first with Blackburn Rovers and then Bolton.

“The former England Under-20 international scored nine goals and assisted 10 more across 37 League One appearances last season, as Bolton won promotion via the play-offs.

“He helped Brighton qualify for the group phase of this season's UEFA Conference League, coming on as a substitute in their play-off round win over Norwegian side Tromso. Cozier-Duberry was then an unused substitute in the Seagulls' Premier League clash with Chelsea at the weekend.

“The forward now bolsters Kim Hellberg's attacking options after completing his move to Teesside.”

Brighton director on Middlesbrough’s new signing

Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave said: “Amario had an excellent year with Bolton Wanderers last season and was one of the standout players in the league helping them to promotion.

“He’s had a very good pre-season with the first-team, that alongside his form last season meant there was significant interest in signing him on loan this season.

“That interest and his new contract is a reflection of his attitude, ability and hard work; now we look forward to watching him continue his progress in the Championship this season.”
