Honeyman. Rovers could not cope with his deadly inswingers from corners. Set up City’s third. But his afternoon took a turn for the worse with a worrying late injury, which saw him stretchered off after lengthy treatment. 7

A Jones: Got in the swing of things in the first half. More up against it in second half. 6

Docherty: Influential. Denied two goals by brilliant blocks by Anderson in first half and superbly set up Wilks’s second. Went off with injury early in the second half. 8

Wilks: Two clinical finishes that any forward would be proud of. The downer was to concede a penalty. 8

Magennis: Linked play excellently and set the tone. Key goalline clearance to deny Bogle. 7

Lewis-Potter: Threatened down the left and produced some teasing deliveries. Maybe should have scored seconds before the break. Hit post with second-half lob. 7

Substitutes: Slater (Docherty 56), 6; Whyte (Magennis 69); 6; Emmanuel (Wilks 81).

Not used: Long, Scott, McLoughlin, Crowley.
