Released Kurtis Guthrie joins Port Vale as Bradford City rebuild continues apace


Shortly after that was announced, League Two rivals Port Vale announced he had joined them.
Guthrie joined the Bantams 12 months ago when Gary Bowyer was manager, but has been restricted by injuries and form to just 13 appearances, five of them League Two starts.

Hide AdHis prospects receded further last month when Lee Novak returned from injury in good form, with three goals in his first five games under the new management duo. Guthrie, by contrast, played just 25 minutes for them.
It has therefore been mutually decided to cancel the 27-year-old's contract to allow him to move on this month after loaning forward Rumarn Burrell from Middlesbrough.
City have already loaned Leeds United winger Jordan Stevens, signed goalkeeper Will Huffer from Bradford (Park Avenue) and brought former academy player and ballboy Niall Canavan back to the club this month.
