Versatility could land Bradley new contract

Bradley, who will be out of contract in the summer, joined the Millers as a midfielder two years ago but has been converted to right-back by manager Andy Scott.

Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Barnet, Bradley said: “I have played at centre-half, right-back and centre midfield, and last year I played right- and left-wing so, hopefully, that is going to help me out in getting a new contract.

“As for right-back, I thought I did well in the four or five matches up to Saturday against Bristol Rovers. That was my most disappointing game but I think I’d rather not think about it and concentrate on the next one.”

Manager Scott is still trying to extend the loan deal of striker Shaun Harrad from Bury.

Harrad has scored three goals in five appearances for the Millers but his initial month-long deal expires next weekend.

“Hopefully, he can stay with us but nothing is set in stone yet,” said Scott. “I spoke to (Bury manager) Richie Barker this week and they are going through a little bit of a tough spell. The longer it goes without them getting a win, the chances are he will go back. But we have got him for another three games and we will keep perservering. He is happy that he is playing and wants to be involved. He’s enjoying it here and wants to stay.”

Struggling Barnet have suffered four defeats in a row and the Millers desperately need three points if they are to close the six-point gap on seventh-placed Oxford United, who occupy the final play-off spot.

“We have to go there and put the pressure on. We need to get the best out of it,” said Scott.
