Sheffield United credited with interest in Burnley's ex-Nottingham Forest stalwart Joe Worrall
Sheffield United have again been linked with an experienced Burnley defender
Talk of Sheffield United interest in experienced Burnley defender Joe Worrall has resurfaced.
The 29-year-old has been linked with the Blades on a number of occasions over the years, yet a move to Bramall Lane has never materialised.
He has been on Burnley’s books since 2024, when his lengthy association with Nottingham Forest came to an end.
Sheffield United are looking to add depth and quality in the dying embers of the summer transfer window, doing so without the parachute payments they have had in recent years.

According to reporter Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, Worrall is a player wanted by Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.
Burnley would reportedly look to pocket a fee for the seasoned centre-back, although it has been claimed a loan deal could be arranged.
Worrall has seen little action across his two years at Burnley - making just 27 appearances - but would inject further experience into Wilder’s ranks.
Talk of interest in Worrall has emerged amid doubts over the future of Mark McGuinness, who has been linked with Watford.
Sheffield United’s market position
Earlier this month, after his side’s goalless draw with Birmingham City, Wilder said: “We're a club that last season, was in the last year of parachute payments, which I've talked about is a reward for three years in the Premier League and a profit as a football club.
“Some people have got deep pockets in this division and we understand that. Our owners want to do it in a way that suits the football club.
“There's no opportunity to go and buy somebody to replace Gus [Hamer], as we've talked about, in that position. And if you are, it's going to cost you a chunk of change.

“So we're going to have to be involved in the chaos, which is the last 10 days. Everybody turns from permanent signings. Is he available on loan? ‘No, it's a permanent, it's a permanent, it's a permanent’. That's all we get. That's all the response that we get.
“And then going into the last week of the chaos, where all players will be coming up, left, right and centre. We know we need to replace Gus.
“And yet again, we'll be working 24/7, which we have been through this period, to give the team the best opportunity of being competitive in, which is, for me, one of the most competitive divisions that there’s been for a long, long time.”
