Sheffield United boss gives update on quartet, Kalvin Phillips 'clarity' and one player who 'has played too much football'

SHEFFIELD United manager Chris Wilder has confirmed that Harrison Burrows, Tahith Chong and Ryan One will 'definitely be available' after the international break, while there is a chance that Femi Seriki will also be in the mix.

United, who visit Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, are inactive for three weeks following Saturday's Championship trip to Stoke City.

They will return to action at home to Lincoln City on October 10.

Wilder said: "Femi is possibly the only one that we really have to tick off now, but Harrison, Chong and Ryan One will definitely be available.

"We're going through the last stages of Femi's rehabilitation, but I'd be delighted to get him back. Harrison and especially the two boys at the top of the pitch will be warmly received when they become available for selection."

Wilder is debating whether to make a call to referees' supremo Mike Jones after what he perceived to be an ‘outrageous’ decision failed to punish Wolves captain Andre following a challenge on Sam McCallum just before the interval which resulted in the Blades’ player receiving a fair bit of treatment.

The Blades chief commented: "He (McCallum) got an unbelievable whack.

"I'm making a phone call this morning because watching the game back over Sunday night and Monday morning, the explanations I got on a couple of the decisions were just outrageous.

"The explanation we got on Sam McCallum in terms of he blocked the other guy…

"I think that (with) just the impact on Sam, at half-time he had lengthy treatment and he had to come off (in the second half on Sunday) and he's a doubt for Wednesday night.

"And the second yellow (not given) with 20 minutes to go would have completely changed the game. So Sam's a major doubt for us.

"Just for clarity, we always had down Kalvin (Phillips) to do 60 minutes.

"We would have made a change with Rom (Romelle Donovan) coming on with 15 minutes to go, but having to take Sam off altered that plan as well. So we wanted to get Rom on the pitch. He's played a lot of football recently for a young boy as well.

"And Blaster (Oli Arblaster) as well, who I thought was outstanding on Sunday afternoon, him coming off the pitch. So there's still a couple of physical substitutions that we're going to have to make at this stage of the season.

"Ben Brereton-Diaz has played too much football, in my opinion, and that would have been supplemented with Ryan, if he was fit, and Rom; the, same situation.

"That would have been the situation with Chong as well. Players are getting through and putting everything on the line like they did Sunday, which makes me feel positive in terms of what we can achieve going forward."
