Sheffield United face tricky choice over squad list

Sheffield United face having to deregister one of their senior players for the second half of last season after failing to trim the squad as much as they hoped in the January transfer window.

There are still some transfer windows open around the world but as it stands, the Blades have 26 players over the age of 21.

A maximum of 25 can be registered with the Football League when clubs have to submit their revised squad lists on noon on Thursday.

Players not registered can be added later, but the same is not true in reverse. Unregistered players cannot feature in the second half of the season unless they were under 21 at the start of the season.

"We'll possibly look at it,” said Wilder.

“The window’s still open [in some countries around the world] so there might be an opportunity of maybe one or two going out. We'll look at the injury list as well to see where we are with that, but it'll be late on. Maybe it’ll only be one, and that one might be going out as well.”

WIlder has to remove one from Patrick Bamford, Tyler Bindon, Andre Brooks, Harrison Burrows, Tyrese Campbell, Tom Cannon, Tahith Chong, Michael Cooper, Adam Davies, Tom Davies, Gustavo Hamer, Leo Hjelde, Ki-Jana Hoever, Danny Ings, Sam McCallum, Mark McGuinness, Ben Mee, Callum O'Hare, Chiedozie Ogbene, Kalvin Phillips, Jairo Ridewald, Joe Rothwell, Femi Seriki, Jamie Shackleton, Djibril Soumare, Japhet Tanganga.
