Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen on winning angry fans around and 'punching back' after Doncaster Rovers loss

SHEFFIELD Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen is confident that he can win angry supporters around - after a number turned on him in Saturday's 2-0 derby reverse at Doncaster Rovers.

After Tuesday's dismal defeat at Notts County, when the Owls did not have a shot on target, Wednesday produced a dreadful first-half performance at the Club Doncaster Sports Village, which saw them trail thanks to an Owen Bailey double.

The Owls had a go in the second period, but the damage had been done.

Chants of 'Sacked in the morning’ and ‘We want Pedersen out’ arrived from irate Wednesdayites after Rovers went 2-0 up and again at the interval.

They were repeated late in the second half and after the final whistle.

Asked whether he feels he can get back onside with supporters, Pedersen, whose side host Cambridge United on Tuesday night, said:" Yeah, of course I feel that.

"I love this football club. I can feel that we are close, the players and me, and we are ready to come out of this. We have had a bad week and now we want to punch back.

"That's why we're looking forward to Tuesday evening to punch back and show that we can not only play from half the game, but we can play from 90 minutes."

On fans anger, he continued: "It's normal. I feel the anger like they feel the anger. Because we are not happy after a great result last Saturday at home and then have two losses in two games.

"This is not what we wanted and of course I feel the same anger that they feel. And now we have to grow quickly and then we have to take the fight Tuesday.

"Of course I'm hurting because it's not who we want to be. We want to be a dominant team from the first to the last moment.

"Not only a second half or period of the game. We want to have higher standards through 90 minutes. And it's hurting that we miss something here."
