He said:“I have been out of football for around six months, but I have been waiting for the right opportunity and it had to be the right opportunity with the right club. Sheffield Wednesday feels perfect for me.

“I’m so looking forward to getting started with Wednesday. It’s been a difficult time being out of the game and we’ve all had the lockdown as well.

“But I have used that to my advantage, to try and be positive because that’s my nature. I know the pressures awaiting me playing for this football club, but I am ready and equipped.”

Meanwhile, Hull City have snapped up pacy Cardiff City winger Gavin Whyte on loan for the rest of the season – with the 24-year-old to step into the breach after Hakeeb Adelakun’s recent loan return to Bristol City.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Ben Hamer – whose contract expires in the summer – is set to join Swansea City on a free transfer.

Town will assess new signing Sorba Thomas in training before deciding whether to send him out on loan, with Harrogate Town reportedly keen to sign him on loan.

Head coach Carlos Corberan said: “If you move from (non-league) level to Championship level, he might need to have some steps in between that will help his progress.

“First of all, we are going to look at him in training before deciding what is the best moment for him (to go on loan).”
