The uncapped Hull City player set to be part of England World Cup game
Uncapped goalkeeper Ivor Pandur is set to be on Croatia's bench against England at the World Cup.
The Hull City goalkeeper has been named in Zlatko Dalic's squad for the tournament in North America.
It is reward for the 26-year-old's performances in the last two seasons of Championship football. Although Pandur has not hit the heights of an outstanding 2024-25, he has featured in all but one Championship game this season. His deputy, Dillon Phillips, has been the Tigers' cup goalkeeper, and made his league debut in the Good Friday game at Oxford United, to give Pandur extra recovery time having just returned from international duty in Florida.
Having represented Croatia through the age groups, Pandur has been an unused substitute for the senior side in their last four matches, but is yet to make it onto the field.
Pandur signed for Hull in January 2024 but did not make his debut that season, a bone of contention between owner Acun Ilicali and Liam Rosenior, who lost his job as coach at the end of the campaign.
Croatia have warm-up friendlies against Belgium and Slovenia before they open their World Cup campaign against England in Texas on June 17.
Pandur is one of three goalkeepers in the squad. Teams will be allowed to name 12 substitutes for each match, causing three squad members to go unused, but they typically opt for two back-up goalkeepers as a precaution.
Although Hull coach Sergej Jakirovic played for Bosnia, he has dual nationality with Croatia, and strong links with football in that country.
