Hide AdVenancio, in the final year of his contract, is due to move to Hillsborough on an initial season-loan deal before signing a permanent deal.
Venancio had turned down a move to Greek champions Olympiakos in January, in the hope of a move to England and he was previously linked with moves to Leeds United, Derby County and Reading.
Burnley’s interest in Leeds United striker Chris Wood could be over.
The Clarets, needing a replacement for £18m Watford signing Andre Gray, have bid almost £12m for Deportivo La Coruna’s Florin Andone after Leeds rejected a second bid, believed to be around £15m, for their Kiwi international, who has two years left on his contract.

More pressing for Tigers head coach Leonid Slutsky is the injury to top scorer Abel Hernandez, who suffered an Achilles problem in the defeat to Wolves.
Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa, whom Slutsky worked with at CSKA Moscow, could be a target for the Tigers chief.
Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing is expected to move to Birmingham, with Ryan Shotton heading to the Riverside for £3m when Blues chief Harry Redknapp finds defensive cover.

Hide AdInjury to Richard Stearman in the defeat at Cardiff City has prompted Sheffield United chief Chris Wilder to step up his transfer search.
Stearman limped off with a hamstring problem and is doubtful for Saturday’s derby against Barnsley.
Wilder, who has been checking on Blackburn Rovers defender Darragh Lenihan and Wolves midfield man Conor Coady - on loan with the Blades three years ago - may also decide to allow former Bradford City striker James Hanson to go to Scunthorpe.
Nineteen-year-old Jordan Gibson has signed a one-year deal with Bradford after international clearance came through for the No 10 following a spell in Scotland at Rangers.
