Following a disappointing season with injuries hindering his performance, Horstmann is looking forward to a new year with a clean bill of health.

“I am so happy to be back in the team for another year, I want to come back and regain my position as a key member of the squad” said Horstmann. “Last season was very up and down on so many levels, but for me personally I suffered back to back injuries which hampered my game, I feel back to full fitness and I’m looking forward to it!”

He will continue his off-court career development with the club’s main sponsor B. Braun Medical Ltd.

The Sharks’ new season starts on September 18 against the Newcastle Eagles.

“Its all exciting,” said Sarah Backovic, Sharks’ managing director.

“I am sure that is possibly the toughest start we could have asked for but we share a long history with the Eagles it is never a dull game so we look forward to it. It is only game 1 but I’m sure it will set the tone in some way!”
