Castleford Tigers boss Ryan Carr teases good news on Jason Qareqare future after eye-catching hat-trick
Ryan Carr has expressed his confidence that Jason Qareqare will remain at Castleford Tigers after the winger underlined his value with a hat-trick against St Helens.
The 22-year-old scored twice in the first half to leave the Tigers in control at the break before completing his second treble of the season.
Qareqare is out of contract this autumn but Carr expects the academy product to put pen to paper in the near future.
"He loves it here," said the Castleford boss following Saturday's 30-10 win.
"He's forming a great combination with Maps (Krystian Mapapalangi). He's a fan favourite and a valued member of our squad.
"We love him and will hopefully have some good news during this time off.
"We're more than confident that he'll be staying with us."
The Tigers outplayed their high-flying visitors to record consecutive wins for the first time since July 2024.
Brock Greacen and Ashton Golding added to Qareqare's tries in a dominant performance.
"We played really well," said Carr.
"I'm really pleased for our playing group and everyone involved in our club, especially our fans who turned out in numbers.
"The fans were excited and happy and that’s how they should feel like when they support the team.
"It's our first back-to-back wins in two years. I'm proud we could break that shackle. It's up to us to continue to go after it and be consistent. That's what I want to keep pushing.
"That level of performance was unreal but it's got to become our norm. That's what good teams do really well.
"That was the best version of us."
