Former Hull KR star Moore dies, aged 71

Hull KR are mourning the loss of legendary Johnny Moore, the former centre who played 430 games for the East Yorkshire club and was assistant to Roger Millward when they famously defeated Hull in the 1980 Challenge Cup final.

Moore, who died at the age of 71 from a rare heart condition, also captained the Robins to the 1967 Yorkshire Cup success over their fierce rivals.

Ex-Castleford player Fred Ward has also died.

Born in the town, he made 152 appearances and scored 37 tries for them between 1952-1958.
