Hull KR boss Willie Peters provides latest on Dean Hadley injury and Jai Whitbread situation

Hull KR forward Dean Hadley faces a race against time to prove his fitness for Saturday's Wembley date with Wigan Warriors after suffering a hamstring strain.

Hadley was forced off in the closing stages of last week's Super League win over Wigan Warriors and a scan subsequently flagged an issue, leaving Rovers sweating on his availability for the Challenge Cup showpiece.

Willie Peters is happy to give one of his pack leaders every chance to feature.

"We'll make a late call," said the KR head coach at Tuesday's media event in Manchester. "He's earned that.

"We'll give him right up to captain's run on Friday. He didn't run yesterday and we'll have to see how he goes in the main session tomorrow."

Hadley is a hugely influential figure for the Robins, making 150 appearances since his cross-city move from Hull FC in 2019.

The 33-year-old underlined his commitment to the cause with a heroic effort in February's World Club Challenge win over Brisbane Broncos – a success that completed KR's historic quadruple.

Peters, however, was quick to stress that a hamstring issue is different to a fractured eye socket.

"We've just got to make sure he can do his job," added Peters, who is already without full-back Arthur Mourgue.

"Dean can play through any injury like the one in February but there's more to consider with soft tissue injuries."

Rovers are also waiting on prop Jai Whitbread, whose partner is expecting a baby.

"We've just got to wait and see what happens there," said Peters.

"There's a possibility he won't play. If the baby isn't here, he won't be going down with us."
