Hull KR duo Mikey Lewis and Tevita Pangai Junior learn disciplinary fate
Mikey Lewis and Tevita Pangai Junior have been dropped by Hull KR after picking up costly suspensions.
The bans do not come into effect until next week but Willie Peters opted to leave the pair out of his 21-man squad for Saturday's clash with Toulouse Olympique, representing a clear response to disciplinary lapses that compounded a damaging defeat to Warrington Wolves.
Lewis, who was making his return from a four-match ban, was handed a fresh two-game suspension for his ill-judged attempted charge down on Wire playmaker Ewan Irwin, which saw him make contact with his studs.
A competition-high fourth yellow card of the season and subsequent ban have cost the England half-back his place in the KR team, meaning he will not play again until the final round of the regular season at the earliest.
Peters delivered a pointed message to Lewis before Tuesday's game against Warrington after Rovers won every match in his absence.
"He knows he needs to keep a calmer head and be more composed," said the KR boss. "He's a senior player in our team.
"As a coach, as a player, in any job, I think it’s important to work that hard for your bosses and the board, whoever it is, to have that trust in you that you are irreplaceable.
"I think it was important that the team went on to win those four games for Mikey. If we hadn’t, then people were going to be saying that we couldn’t win without Mikey. And then what does that do for Mikey? It doesn’t teach him anything."

Pangai Jr, meanwhile, may have played his last game for Rovers.
The forward joined the Robins on a season-long deal in May but has featured just five times due to fitness and disciplinary issues.
Pangai Jr was already guaranteed to miss the rest of the regular season and the first round of the play-offs before he was dropped by Peters.
The one-time New South Wales representative received three separate charges for late contact on Tuesday, earning him a four-game suspension and a pair of fines.
Pangai Jr recently served a six-match ban for gouging.
The Robins, who are also without Tyrone May and Jai Whitbread for the Toulouse match, sit fifth in Super League with four rounds remaining.
