When does Super League 2021 start?

The 2021 Super League season starts on Friday 26 March.

Its launch was delayed by two weeks after talks with broadcast partners at the height of the winter lockdown brought on by the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Both parties wanted to see spectators in the grounds for the start of the season but this is unlikely to happen before 17 May under the government’s roadmap.

Teams will compete over 25 rounds and the season is scheduled to end on Saturday 9 October, with the Super League Grand Final to be played at Old Trafford.

What are the opening Super League fixtures?

Reigning Super League champions St Helens begin their title defence against Salford Red Devils in the first of two fixtures on Friday 26 March.

St Helens v Salford Red Devils kicks off at 6pm followed by Leigh Centurions v Wigan Warriors at 8.15pm before four more fixtures over the weekend.

On Saturday 27 March, Wakefield Trinity face Leeds Rhinos at 3pm and Catalans Dragons take on Hull KR at 5.15pm.

The opening weekend of Super League action concludes on Sunday 28 March with Hull FC v Huddersfield Giants (12.30pm kick off) and Castleford Tigers v Warrington Wolves (2.45pm).

What TV channel is the Super League on?

All fixtures in the opening round of Super League 2021 action will take place in line with the government’s Covid protocols behind closed doors at Headingley Stadium.

But Super League fans can still witness every second of the action this weekend as the games will be shown live on Sky Sports’s Arena channel.

Sky customers who subscribe to the channel will be able to watch all six games at no extra cost.

Sky Sports Arena costs £18 per month to add as an individual channel for customers, while the complete sports package costs £25 per month.

Can I stream Super League fixtures?

Existing Sky Sports customers can stream the Super League fixtures through the Sky Go app on various digital devices, including phones and tablets.

Non-Sky customers can opt for a day or month pass of Sky Sports channels through NOW TV without committing to a contract.

The cost of NOW TV passes vary from £9.99 for a day pass to £33.99 for a month pass and can be streamed through the NOW TV app.
