And the I Predict A Riot superstars - who play the city's First Direct Arena on Saturday, November 12 - are predicting Good Times after collaborating on songs for their forthcoming album with music legend himself Nile Rodgers, writes Graham Walker.

"We will be there having a good time. And hopefully that good time will translate to your good time. Good times will spread across the world," says frontman Ricky Wilson, of the forthcoming 13 date UK arena tour.

Ricky promises the show will be packed with greatest hits such as number one Ruby, plus anthems I Predict A Riot, Oh My God, Everyday I Love You Less and Less and Never Miss A Beat.

But there will also be new music – they have almost completed an eighth studio album, including songs they have written with iconic producer, singer-songwriter Nile at world famous Abbey Road studios. It has resulted in a handful of songs.

Former art teacher Ricky says time spent with the legend behind hits for everyone from Madonna to David Bowie was like being back at school.

He explained: "You know, when you get like a new teacher and you kind of just get him to tell stories instead of teaching you. It was a lot of stories. You know, 'go on, tell us another Bowie one then.

"Yeah, did he eat sandwiches? What sandwich? Stuff like that?

"We've come out working with Nile with a handful of songs. Is that a big handful? Is that a small handful? Time will tell."

Formed in Leeds in 2000, Kaiser Chiefs have released seven studio albums including chart toppers, Yours Truly, Angry Mob and Education, Education, Education & War, plus their much praised 2019 top three album, Duck.

They were Mercury nominated for their debut album, Employment and went on to win three BRIT awards, an Ivor Novello award for Album of the Year, and have sold over eight million albums worldwide.

Ricky, bandmates Simon Rix on bass, Andrew ‘Whitey’ White on guitar, Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines on keyboards and drummer Vijay Mistry, are excited to be back on the road and playing Leeds.

Ricky told us: "I can go for Sunday lunch at my mum and dad's. Or maybe not. That's not the only reason to play Leeds on a Saturday night, but it's a bonus.

"We will be playing new stuff. 100 per cent new songs - no, we'll play the hits. Every tour of ours is greatest hits tour because we play some great hits.

"But the new music will be out by then. It's probably about 80 per cent there.

"Being the Kaiser Chiefs is a lot like pretending it's a lot harder than it is. It's actually quite easy. And we have a lot of fun doing it. It's quite stressful when you were trying to get it perfect. But the rest of the time, it's just messing about."

During COVID he became the new Tony Hart, the art teacher for the UK with celebrity guests creating art and inspiring kids on TV.

But there's not enough time to do that and front one of the world's biggest rock bands.

And he won't be putting his talent to use with the Kaiser Chiefs - he designed the art work for an original run of single Oh My God, but has no plans to do more.

He said of his CBBC Ricky Wilson’s Art Jam TV show: "Will I get a second series? Classic. Do you know what? It totally depends. If you want to see another second series, you better hope that new new music is terrible.

"The art show is a lot of hard work and a lot of time commitment, and I don't want to commit to anything that I can't give my 100 per cent to."

And he won't be putting his talent to use with the Kaiser Chiefs - he designed the art work for an original run of single Oh My God, but has no plans to do more.

He said: "I'm not good enough. We get some amazing people to do our artwork. And also, if I did it, I'd always see what was wrong with it. if you get someone else to do it, it's worth the money because you won't notice."

Special guests on the tour will be crowd pleasing indie bands and live favourites The Fratellis and the Kaiser Chiefs’ South Yorkshire neighbours The Sherlocks.

The tour kicks off in Swansea, will see them head to Cardiff, London, Newcastle, Hull, Liverpool and Glasgow, before partying at home in Leeds. Then they play Brighton, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Birmingham and Nottingham.
