Bring on brother Malcolm in British Basketball League play-offs, says Sheffield Sharks' Marcus Delpeche

Sheffield Sharks’ power forward Marcus Delpeche is hoping to renew a sibling rivalry in the British Basketball League play-offs.

Delpeche’s brother Malcolm plays for Newcastle Eagles, who if the season were to end today, would be Sharks’ opponents in the best-of-three play-off quarter-final.

“It would be exciting to meet Newcastle. I know as long as we keep winning, I know there’s going to be a very good chance we could meet,” said Delpeche.

“We need to get into that fourth/fifth spot and take it from there. Ideally we want that fourth spot and hopefully a return of the Delpeche derby.”

To do that they ideally need to win two of their three remaining league games, all at home, and starting on Friday night against third-placed Caledonia Gladiators, with Cheshire Phoenix in town on Sunday.

“They’ll both be good tests for us,” said Delpeche, who has been working his way back after injury. “Caledonia have hit their straps scoring-wise, and for us it’s about building towards the play-offs.”
