In that familiar mix of music for the chorus, items from the band, you can add your very own voices with an invitation to sing a selection of carols and Christmas songs conducted by Darius Battiwalla. There are two performances at 3pm and 7pm.

In Harrogate’s Convention Centre the Harrogate Choral Society and Symphony Orchestra are being joined by three hundred primary schoolchildren in a feast of carols and festive music. Rumour has it that a man calling himself Father Christmas will make a quick visit. The concert starts at 6pm

In Halifax Minster, at 7pm, and in the company of the Hammonds Saltaire Band, we come closer to the origins of Christmas in an evening when the audience take centre-stage as they entertain themselves.

On Sunday evening Black Dyke Mills, with their conductor, Nicholas Childs, present their own hugely popular Carol Concert at 7pm in the Huddersfield Town Hall, while at the same venue next Thursday the organist, Gordon Stewart, directs a lunchtime of singing and organ works relating to the festive season, and featuring the Choristers of Wakefield Cathedral. The programme begins at 1pm.
