Cedar Court hotels helps team into temporary roles in NHS and supermarkets during coronavirus pandemic

Cedar Court hotels is helping its team into new temporary roles in NHS businesses and supermarkets as it announces a temporary closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cedar Court Hotels, which is Yorkshire’s largest independent hotel group has announced it will temporarily close the Cedar Court Hotels in Bradford, Huddersfield and Harrogate with effect from noon on Friday 20 March.

Wayne Topley Managing Director, said: “Although a very difficult decision, we have taken this short-term action to provide some much needed clarity for our customers and colleagues and to provide reassurances that we are preserving our energies for our successful, and sustainable, long-term future. We run a successful hotel company with ongoing plans for growth, but this action is necessary”

Mr Topley added: “We have taken these unprecedented steps as a direct response to the advice of the Government around ‘social distancing’ and our ongoing duty to protect the health and the wellbeing of our customers and our teams within the business. We are taking new bookings from the 1st of May onwards - unless Government advice changes. As a business and a team of people we hope for happier times, but for now the safety and welfare of guests and our workforce alike is of paramount importance.”

He continued: “Our team members are being supported in a number of ways, we are currently helping our team into new temporary roles in local NHS businesses and supermarkets, who as we all know need extra support and resource as their efforts are now of national interest. We are also in direct contact with Government agencies in terms of offering hotels as facilities they can use.”

In a staement, Cedar Court Hotels added: "We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers and their families the very best of health during this time and to thank our team for their support and understanding during this difficult period."
