If you live in Yorkshire, you might soon see more M&S Food stores popping up in your town.

Marks & Spencer has unveiled a new list of 500 locations across the UK where it is considering opening or modernising stores, and several spots in Yorkshire are among them.

The move is part of M&S’s plan to double the size of its Food business over the coming years.

The retailer has been steadily ramping up its Food expansion, and it says that the results have been impressive. Stores opened in the last three years have outperformed expectations, drawing more customers and growing market share in their regions.

Encouraged by this success, the company is accelerating its plans, with more than 20 new or renewed stores scheduled before the end of the financial year, creating around 800 new jobs.

M&S is targeting locations with the “right space in the right places,” focusing on stores large enough to carry an extended range of products, wider aisles for bigger shopping trolleys, and bigger car parks to accommodate family shoppers. These are the hallmarks of M&S’s new store format, which has already proven popular in existing locations.

Over half of M&S’s stores, including convenience outlets, are expected to adopt this new, modernised store format - which has proven popular in existing locations - by April 2028.

Where could new M&S Food stores be in Yorkshire?

For Yorkshire shoppers, the expansion means better access to M&S Food in areas where the retailer currently has no presence.

It means more opportunities to pick up everything from fresh produce and ready meals to seasonal treats, all in stores designed with modern convenience in mind.
