Jet2: Yorkshire-based airline still facing ‘ongoing disruption’ amid NATS issues
Yorkshire-based airline Jet2 has confirmed it is still experiencing “ongoing disruption” after around 2,000 of flights from airlines across the UK were cancelled due to issues with the country’s main provider of air traffic control.
It came after British Airways today said it had “no choice” but to cancel more than 190 flights following issues at the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) on Tuesday, with Ryanair also confirming that it had now been forced to cancel 250 flights.
Ryanair added that the company expected costs to “run into the millions” following the issue.
A spokesperson for Leeds-based Jet2 told The Yorkshire Post that it was working “tirelessly” to keep customers up to date on the impact of Tuesday's incident.

They said: “Following the technical fault affecting the UK’s National Air Traffic Services, we are still experiencing some ongoing disruption, like many airlines.
“Although this was outside of our control, our teams are continuing to work tirelessly to communicate with, and look after, our customers, as they always do.
“We would of course like to apologise to everyone that is affected, and we share their frustration. We would advise customers to visit the Latest Travel Information page for updates.”
The company did not confirm, when asked, how many of its flights had been cancelled due to the issues.
The statement was issued around two hours after NATS said its operations were “stable” following Tuesday’s incident.
In a statement this afternoon, the air traffic control provider said: “Our operations are stable and we continue to work closely with airlines and airports to support their recovery from the ongoing disruption to their operations.
“We would also like to reiterate our apology to all those affected – passengers, airlines and airports – by our system issue yesterday.
“While our immediate focus is on safely managing today’s flights, a full investigation will be conducted to establish what happened and identify any further action needed.”
It comes after Manchester Airport said earlier today that it was now “operating as normal”, but confirmed that eight flights had been cancelled today.
A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: "Following yesterday's NATS air traffic control issue, the airport is operating as normal.
"Those travelling today should continue with their journey plans and check with their airline for the latest information on their flight as usual."
It comes after Leeds Bradford airport was also hit by four cancellations last night, with two Ryanair flights, one KLM flight and one Jet2 flight cancelled.
The company said in an update that no flights had been cancelled this morning due to the NATS issues.
Teesside Airport also told The Yorkshire Post that it was experiencing “minimal disruption”, and that it had “not been affected” by the NATS issues.
