Straight wins Severn Trent contract

Recycling group Straight has won a contract worth over £1m to supply water saving products to Severn Trent Water.

The three year contract will see the Leeds-based firm deliver almost 200,000 water saving products and accessories to customers.

Many of the products will be free or will be heavily subsidised by Severn Trent to inspire customers to become more water efficient.

As part of the new contract, Straight will provide and manage a home delivery service and will also develop a website for residents to order their water saving products from.

The website will feature advice and water saving tips to encourage water conservation and promote the water saving products. Residents will also be able to order their products over the phone, by coupon or through a text messaging service.

Products included in the contract are water butts, tap flow regulators, shower heads, shower timers and regulators, cistern displacement and dual flush retro devices and water saving kits.

Doug Clarke, water efficiency manager at Severn Trent Water, said: “We provide water and sewerage services to 3.7m households and businesses across the Midlands and parts of Wales. It is important for us all to start taking a more active role in reducing our water consumption. This new agreement and the products available through the scheme will encourage Severn Trent Water residents to do just that.”
