'We are loving it' - Celebrity farming family hail Great Yorkshire Show
Celebrity stars of ITV’s Fletchers’ Family Farm were among those to speak with farmers as they helped hand out prizes to top Zwartbles sheep breeds.
The reality series follows former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz, with their four children, as they run a 120-acre farm in the Peak District.
Now, with the Zwartbles breed hosting its National Show at the showground, the couple were on hand to recognise farmers' achievements.
“We are loving the show, this is an amazing experience and essential in the industry,” said Mr Fletcher. “You can’t do it all in a day.”
From every corner of the showground there was talk on the latest innovations, or the impact of the recent heatwave.
To Mr Fletcher, it's why events like these are so important: "With every challenge, farmers find a way to overcome." And Mrs Fletcher, with tickets sold out, said it shows how popular it is.
“We've been coming six years running now, we've not missed a year,” she said. “Every day is different, we always discussing something new.
“It’s a sense of community. It makes it a bit more special to farmers and to everyone. This is the farmers work – work they have done for months and years.
“It’s a day that farmers look forward to, just as much as the general public.”
The Fletchers are among a host of stars confirmed for the show, with Peter Wright of Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet to appear today.
Tomorrow’s guest star is Jules Hudson of the BBC’s Escape to the Country, with Harriet Cowan who featured in Clarkson’s Farm to appear on Friday.
