Heckmondwike Grammar School in West Yorkshire has donated 450 pairs of goggles to the Princess Royal Health Centre in Huddersfield, after being moved by calls from frontline

workers for additional personal protective equipment.

Headteacher Peter Roberts said: “We use eye goggles to protect our pupils in science and technology lessons, but with the school currently closed and the unprecedented demands on the health service, it is only right that we donate every pair we have to the fight against coronavirus.”

NHS staff are doing amazing work day-in, day-out and they deserve the best protection to allow them and their families to be safe, and ensure they can continue to help those who need it in the days and weeks ahead.”

“We are proud of everything they are doing, and I am also proud of our entire school community and want to say a huge thank you – to our teachers and staff who continue to provide an

outstanding learning experience for our students, albeit remotely from home, to the staff educating the children of key workers in school, to our students who are working so hard remotely, and our parents who are helping them and supporting us in these challenging times.”
