Confirmed coronavirus cases in Yorkshire reach 7,000 as new figures released

A total of 7,031 people in Yorkshire have now tested positive for coronavirus.

The latest update from the Department of Health, accurate as of 2pm on Sunday, shows a rise of 150 cases in Yorkshire since the same time on Saturday.

Sheffield is the worst-hit local authority area, with 1,631 confirmed cases, followed by Leeds with 930 cases.

In the UK, the total number of lab-confirmed cases is 124,743.

The death toll in UK hospitals now stands at 16,509, with 1,130 deaths confirmed in Yorkshire hospitals.

East Riding - 337

Hull (Kingston upon Hull) - 258

Kirklees - 433

Leeds - 930

North East Lincolnshire - 92

Sheffield - 1,631

Wakefield - 404

York - 183
