England player ratings as 3-0 win over Wales ups the competition for places
England beat Wales 3-0 on a good night for Thomas Tuchel and his attempts to create competition for places.
No Jude Bellingham and no Phil Foden was no problem as others stepped up to the plate and made strong cases to keep their place in the side for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier in Latvia but more especially next summer’s World Cup as they won the Wembley friendly with plenty to spare.
Jordan Pickford – made a couple of late saves 7
Ezri Konsa – slotted in comfortably at right-back 6
John Stones – little chance to impress om his first start for Thomas Tuchel 6
Marc Guehi – his hunger was the reason for the first goal 7
Djed Spence – another who is making a strong case to be in Tuchel's best XI – in his case at left-back 7
Elliot Anderson – a steady performance as he continues to look at home in international football 7

Declan Rice – a comfortable night for the stand-in captain 7
Bukayo Saka – a lovely goal in a lively performance 8
Morgan Rogers – continues to shine in an England shirt, claiming a goal and an assist very early on 8
Anthony Gordon – all energy but could have done with a goal 7

Ollie Watkins – was having a great night until he missed a good chance and injured himself sliding into a post in the process 7
Substitutes:
Marcus Rashford (for Watkins, HT) – got straight into the game but it soon petered out 6
Jordan Henderson (for Anderson, 69) – not much opportunity to shine as the holding midfielder helping to defend a 3-0 leader but Henderson has never been concerned about trying to be flash 5
Morgan Gibbs-White (for Rogers, 69) – unable to bang the door down but keeping his hat in the ring with his substitute appearances 5
Ruben Loftus-Cheek (for Rice, 69) – first cap for seven years 5
