With driving lessons and practical tests still suspended in some parts of the UK, now is a great time for learners to brush up on their theory.

What kind of tests are on offer?
The DVSA is offering separate mock theory tests for car drivers, motorcyclists, lorry drivers and bus or coach drivers. You can also access a free hazard perception test, during which you’ll watch up to three videos with the aim of spotting hazards.
The car driver and motorcyclist tests have 50 multiple choice questions, matching the number you’d have to answer in a real life test.

This means you only have to take a mock test once to mimic a real exam, though you’re able to take the tests as many times as you want for practice.
Each test will take up to an hour to complete. You’ll still need to take a test in real life, but as official mock tests, these are great practice for the exam.
You can access the tests at this link.

Driving tests will take a little longer to resume in some parts of the UK, however.
England has recently allowed practical driving tests to resume, but in Wales these will not be resuming until mid August. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, there has been no word as of yet on when practical driving tests will resume.

What measures will be in place to protect me in exams?
The DVSA has introduced several measures to keep people safe while taking theory and practical driving tests. These include:
-Floor markings to keep people two metres apart
-Extra cleaning
-Providing hand sanitiser
-Spacing out chairs from other test takers
-Staff wearing face coverings and reception desks behind glass.

The measures in place during driving lessons will depend on your instructor, but most will likely ask you to wear a mask throughout the lesson.
