Grantley Hall: Luxury Yorkshire hotel selling one of the world's most exclusive Cognacs by the glass - for £1,200

A luxury Yorkshire hotel is to sell one of the world’s rarest cognacs at an eye-watering £1,200 for 25ml.

The rare Louis XIII Black Pearl is limited to just 398 decanters across the world and only 27 in the UK.

And it will now be available to customers at Grantley Hall, which has built a custom-made cooling cellar to keep the cognac at 13°C, recreating the conditions of Le Grollet, the historic cellar that inspired the edition.

The tipple was selected by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau from the House’s historic reserves.

Grantley Hall said it is “the only eau-de-vie in the collection identified as retaining the distinctive character of Le Grollet, a remarkable legacy passed down to Loiseau by his predecessor, Pierrette Trichet”.

The hotel is currently the only venue in the world to house every LOUIS XIII format, from the Miniature 5cl to the ultra-rare Rare Cask 42.1.

The Black Pearl is presented in a Louis XIII decanter, made specially for the drink and “inspired by the mystery, depth and darkness of Le Grollet”.
