The five Yorkshire pubs named in The Good Food Guide's 100 Best Pubs 2026

Five Yorkshire pubs have been named in The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Pubs for 2026 - but last year’s winner has lost the top spot.

The Highland Laddie in Leeds was named the best pub in the country by the Good Food Guide in 2025, but it has fallen to number three for 2026.

It has been knocked off the top spot by The Queens Arms in Eccles, which is widely recognised as the oldest passenger railway pub in the world.

It took top spot thanks to what the Guide described as “its charming cultural mash up of historic Victorian boozer and Japanese Izakaya”.

The Cow, in Notting Hill, which is famous for pulling pints for celebrities including David Beckham, Tom Cruise and Kylie Minogue, took second spot.

The Abbey Inn in Byland, North Yorkshire, which is owned and run by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks, rounds out the top 10.

The Star Inn at Harome is 39th on the list, while another one of Banks’ pubs - The General Tarleton in Ferrensby in North Yorkshire, is 55th.

Sneaking into the top 100 and completing Yorkshire’s involvement on the list is The Fylingdales Inn in Robin Hood’s Bay, which is ranked 99th.

Adam Hyman, owner of Good Food Guide, said: “While our industry continues to adapt to the new norm of what running a hospitality business looks like in Britain, our Best Pubs list once again shows that some of the best food and hospitality can be found in pubs.”

Louise McLaughlin, marketing director at Timothy Taylor’s, said: “The Good Food Guide's 100 Best Pubs celebrates everything that's great about the British pub: warm hospitality, quality food and drink, character, and a genuine connection to local communities.

“These are the kinds of pubs Timothy Taylor's is proud to champion, and we’re delighted to help shine a light on the publicans, their teams, and the loyal regulars who keep this important part of our culture thriving. Congratulations to all of this year's winners.”
